SG Urban Housing

Inhabiting an existing industrial territory.

The project responds to Saint-Gobain's 2020/2021 Multi Comfort Student Contest for the conversion of the former Coignet complex in Saint-Denis.

The proposal combines more than four hundred homes, educational facilities, public space, and landscape with the restoration of the site's historic structures.

Heritage, housing, and nature as one system.

Residential volumes rise and fragment to preserve continuity across the ground, free the public level, and build relationships among housing, vegetation, and existing buildings.

Walkways, exterior circulation, and terraces create shared infrastructure that extends domestic life into the larger complex.

A new layer over the memory of the site.

The intervention retains the presence of the industrial structures and integrates them into porous architecture. New work remains legible without erasing what exists, while landscape occupies courtyards, roofs, and intermediate spaces.
